Richard has completed Part 1 of the Institute of Legal Executives qualification and has passed the Level 4 Professional Higher Diploma in Law in Contract, Tort and Civil Litigation.
Richard set up the claims handling department at Martello Professional Risks Limited, recruited each member of the claims team and managed the department of 10 claims handlers on a day-to-day basis. He provided training to claims staff and developed the team in accordance with the company’s requirements.
Richard played rugby at County level and has a brown belt in Ju Jitsu.

Richard has over 15 years experience in dealing with professional indemnity insurance claims for a wide range of professions including but not limited to; surveyors, solicitors, IFAs, architects, engineers and insurance brokers. He has experience of working for major insurance companies and the Lloyds market and was, prior to joining DCS, the Claims Manager for the largest Professional Indemnity underwriting agency in the UK
Extensive mediation experience. Richard has presented cases for clients at mediation and has also attended mediation hearings as insurer’s representative. He has excellent knowledge of the Pre-action protocols relevant to professional indemnity claims.
Managed a leading London Market Insurer’s book of UK Solicitor’s Claims on a delegated authority basis.
Considerable experience of managing IFA claims for a large Mutual insurer.
Acted on behalf of insurers on a multi-million pound book of Construction business.
Richard has dealt with all aspects of litigation, including instructing Counsel, conducting Court Hearings, preparing Witness Statements, dealing with experts, preparing for disclosure and assisting Counsel at trial.
