Professional LiabilitiesThe professional liabilities division of DCS is led by Matthew Howes and Richard Bedford who between them have nearly thirty years experience of dealing with Professional Liability claims. The Division consists of six claims handlers with a blend of experience from a Lloyds and Company Market background. We consider that this makes the team unique in the marketplace and as such we are able to provide our clients with a first rate claims service. The Division currently provide bespoke claims portfolio management to a number of clients for policies written on a 100% and subscription market basis. This includes a spectrum of policyholders from small to medium size enterprises to large multinational corporations. The team administers claims for a great number of professions, from the more traditional architects, engineers, surveyors, accountants, insurance brokers and solicitors to the less traditional IT Consultants and Publishers. All claims are dealt with on a cradle to grave basis. The Division also has experience of Directors and Officers claims on both primary and excess layers. This broad workload effectively means the Divisions experience is second to none and that there is no type of Professional liabilities claim that the Division cannot administer. In addition the Division is able to advise insurer clients of claims trends taking statistical data across all portfolios administered. Clearly we ensure that client confidentiality is paramount. The Division is acutely aware of the importance of establishing an insureds exposure to a claim as early as possible. As soon as a claim is accepted under the terms of an insurers policy, the insureds liability and quantum, both realistic and on a worst case scenario basis, is investigated. We then take steps to administer the claim by assisting the insured in drafting responses to the claim made. Where appropriate we will instruct relevant solicitors or adjusters to investigate and assist in the resolution of the claim. In view of the breadth of claims we administer we are able to source the most appropriate adjuster or solicitor, keeping in mind our insurer clients own requirements. The Division is keen to ensure that the economics of a claim is borne in mind at every stage of the claim and claims handlers are encouraged to think outside of the box to ensure that the optimum result is achieved. Insurers are kept closely updated of all aspects of a claim. This is of course greatly assisted by DCS claims system (C~View) which enables the insurer to view any document on any claim at any time via an client extranet. In addition the claims system is accessible to clients on a real time basis so a client is always able to see the current and historical status of any given claim. The Division is also able to assist insurers by visiting brokers and clients to either discuss any given claim issues or to assist with an insurers marketing objectives as may be required.
