Liability (EL/PL)

This division specialises in all aspects of EL/PL, Property and products liability claims and is led by Michael Walsh (Profile here).

We currently administer a medium sized casualty account for a large global insurer. This includes carefully reviewing policy coverage, quantum and settlement of a wide range of losses.

The portfolio of claims administered by DCS are varied and range from the standard slip/trip cases to more complex matters involving activity centres, ski slopes and other extreme sports which inevitably lead to severe injuries.

Other claims that we administer emanate from construction companies including scaffolders, groundworkers and many more. Again, the injuries involved can vary from soft tissue injuries to more severe injuries which require rehabilitation and expert advice.

In addition to the already exciting and challenging allocation of claims that we administer, we are also involved in handling a niche and flourishing small scheme which is new to the London market. These involve tattooists, beauty salons, sun & nail parlors and hairdressers.

The liability department within DCS strives to provide our clients with a proactive and motivated handling service.

DCS understands and appreciates that defence costs can be excessive and can be a big part of the reserve. DCS offer clients an in-house administration service and offer the same level of expertise as a loss adjuster, without the need for an external investigation.

Over 50% of our allocated cases are handled in-house and we have successfully settled the majority of those cases well below the reserves held, and without the need to incur further defence costs.

We appreciate that the need for an adjuster appointment is necessary in some instances and we limit their involvement to one investigation report, thereafter the claim is then handled and settled by the casualty department.

An example of just one of the many cases that has been settled in-house relates to a severe stab wound to an employee's leg. The case was valued between £65,000 - £75,000 and with our expert negotiation and pro-active skills; we managed to settle the case in its entirety for £36,000.

With our bespoke I.T scanning system now in place, we offer clients the opportunity to go on-line and review the entire claim including correspondence sent and received and our full thought process from cradle to grave.
